Getting the best payout possible on slots is not easy. You have to learn how to read into the slots pay table and feature rules to find out what slot will pay the best.
This takes a lot of experience understanding the basics around how these slots work will start to give you the insights you need.
Best Coin Slots in Vegas Having said that, it’s still a ton of fun playing these vintage slots. While you may occasionally find a coin slot on The Strip here and there (it’s always changing) the antique coin slots in downtown are the best coin slots in Vegas in my opinion. Here are a few tools that will help you get started…
None of the below is good, bad or indifferent. Remember that a +90% RTP is a +90% RTP spread across the game.
Personally look for games that have “High Volatility” and a strong feature game.
As long as you follow the basic rules Here it will really come down to your own personal preference.
For the beginner: the best way to measure how a game will play is to compare 3 basic components,
Combinations of these 3 factors will assist you to determine what games have a vast majority of the RTP% sitting in the bonus feature.
- Value of the Top prize symbol
- What kind of feature the game has
- How the feature is triggered
The following are some examples of features that I personally look for and can yield great wins from having more RTP% in the feature game.
Bonus Features that could mean a High Volatility.
Bonus Games where extra symbols become substitutes
In these slots during the bonus games you get additional wild symbols or existing symbols become wild. More wild symbols in the bonus games signals that there is significant RTP% sitting in the bonus. Multiple substitute symbols can deliver multiple wins across multiple pay lines.
Bonus Games where all wins are multiplied
Early electronic slot machines with a bonus feature game have had this very classic formula. During the bonus games all wins are multiplied by X2 or X3. These slots are fairly balanced and have a slightly higher portion of RTP% in the bonus game.
This slot mathematics is tried and true. Look for these kinds of features with a high paying wild and top symbol as well as a fairly easy feature trigger.
Expanding or “stacked” substitutes
Much like slots where existing symbols become wild, slots with expanding substitutes “sticky” wilds and stacked wilds deliver multiple wins across multiple pay lines throughout the feature, again this is another sign that the RTP% majority sits in the bonus game.
Wins can get a random multiplier
In these types of slots, wins get multiplied by a random amount. This can be either all wins or indeed there is a special symbol or action that triggers the multipliers during the bonus games. This adds HUGE volatility to the game.
High Denomination fewer symbols big prizes
Usually these are the most volatile and are designed with the serious players in mind. True bang or bust, high bets usually $1 or higher denomination, you can win big on these games or lose it all very quickly. If you have a conservative bank roll then consider this game type as maybe one long shot in the range of games you are playing.
What about Slots with a choice in the Bonus?
Choice of mystery reward eg. Pick a Box / door / path
Many slots also have features that give you a choice. This usually consists of picking a box or what path the character should take etc.
This is actually a waste of time and an illusion of control. The Slot has already selected the result and the total win for the feature bonus.
You cannot control this and it does not matter what you pick.
Select bonus games and multiplier
These slots are very popular – you choose the number of games and the multiplier per game. Usually it’s the more games the lower the multiplier and vice-versa. Pick the riskier option as there is more chance for a massive win!
Collection bonus games
You need to collect something during the feature (usually another symbol), again if you are presented with a choice you are best to pick the most “high risk” option. Collecting all symbols required might seem tough but if it works out it will be sure to please.
Is the value of the top symbol important?
Low value top symbol prize is not actually a bad thing, this might mean that getting the top prize can be easy or bonus games with bonus Wild symbols, extra wild symbols or stacked symbols.
Each slot can be read differently, some slots with a really high top prize means that it would be next to impossible to get!
Never hitch your wagon on the values of symbols, low value top prize can be both good and bad depending on what the features of the slot is.
High value top symbols are great in conjunction with bonus wild symbols and multipliers.
Lower value top symbols mean that they appear more often and this in conjunction with bonus wilds and multiplier in bonus games can be as powerful as well.
How are the free bonus games awarded
Majority of Slots have a “special” symbol that triggers the bonus or free games, this is known as the “scatter” symbol.
In most cases you need 3 to trigger the bonus games, however this does vary.
Best measure to work out hit-rates is also again to play the games and see how they function, using a small amount of money and playing maximum lines at minimum bet.

What Slot Machines Pay The Best In Vegas
Easiest way to find out if a feature is tough to hit or an easy get you can look at the trigger rules and also look if the scatter symbol pays.
How to gauge trigger hit rate.
- Scatter appears on all the reels and also pays: feature hit rate could be quite soft (easy to trigger)
- Scatter is only on select reels and pays: the feature is harder to trigger.
- Scatter is on select reels and does not pay: this means that it is even harder to trigger.
- Scatter is on the first 3 reels: this blocks many of the wins in the base game, indicates a lot more RTP% in the bonus games.

It seems most avid myVegas players have a go to game. But, is there a “best” game? Really, it all depends on your goals. If you’re a fan of online slots and enjoy playing the bonuses, you may like Frontier Fortune or either Excalibur variant. For my fake money, the best game to play is Lotus Land. Reason being, I’m only playing myVegas to build LPs and get some free rewards. I care little about actually interacting with the games. In fact, it’s rare for me to sit down at a slot while in Vegas; they simply can’t hold my attention. This goes double for the online versions.
What’s great about Lotus Land is that it requires no player participation beyond the initial spin. The slots at Wizard Slots does offer free spin bonuses, but those are registered and run automatically, without having to interact with it. Most other myVegas slots require player decisions or acknowledgement (having to press a button once the bonus is complete). You can simply let Lotus Land run in the background while you check emails or peruse the moronic things your “friends” type on Facebook, like me. The only auxiliary participation you may encounter is if myVegas is running a promotion in which you gather items during your spins. However, I’ve been able to go through hundreds of spins without needing to click the old mouse. It’s a great game for gaining LPs or building your strip. I mentioned this little gem in my last podcast episode. Some have used the advice with success:
@VegasFanboy Thanks for suggesting Lotus Land on myVegas. Definitely the best of their slots to just run in the background.
